Common
Matter

Grooming, reduced to what matters

Clean shape.
Natural finish.
Everyday control.

Common Matter makes modern grooming essentials for men who want to look put together without looking like they tried too hard. Premium, but not flashy. Clean, but not sterile. Masculine, but not macho.

We're not another retro barbershop brand, and we're not selling vague wellness. We make a small number of very good things, explain exactly what each one does, and let the product carry it.

A note
from us.

Common Matter started with a simple frustration: almost every men's grooming product is either shouting at you or hiding behind buzzwords. Loud tins covered in flames and skulls, or "clean" promises with nothing behind them.

We wanted the opposite — something quiet and considered that just works. So we started with the one product a guy reaches for every single morning: a strong-hold pomade that holds all day, stays matte, and washes out clean. Get that right, we figured, and we'd earn the right to build the rest.

That's the whole plan. One right thing at a time, numbered as we go, made in Chicago, sold to people we can look in the eye — online and in person.

Materiality

The object
matters.

A brushed tin. An off-white label, black ink, one hairline rule, a lot number. Nothing decorative that isn't also doing a job. It should look like it belongs on a design-forward shelf — a bathroom, a barbershop, a hotel — and feel good in the hand before it ever touches your hair.

Honesty

What we won't do.

Claim it grows hair, stops hair loss, or treats your scalp. It's a styling product — that's it.

Print "organic," "natural," or "non-toxic" unless our maker documents it in writing.

Seed fake reviews or invent a heritage story we don't have.

Bury you in fifteen near-identical products before the first one has earned it.
